(Alphabet) LITTLE SOLDIER BOYS ABC (code no. 95). [New York]: McLoughlin Bros., New York, (1900). 4to - 10-11/16" x 8-5/16". Staple bound as issued, color pictorial stiff paper wrappers with rubbing and light pinch creases along spine, a 1-1/4" long split to wrapper at tail of spine and a creased upper fore edge corner for what is still a very nice copy of the book. [16] pp. including wrappers. This alphabet book pairs each of the letters of the alphabet, which are printed in capital form in yellow, orange and red within a black outline, with a word, starting with that letter, that is related to military personnel or matters; there is a short verse featuring each of these words, and each of these verses is illustrated with a beautiful chromolithograph featuring children playing war, e.g., "A is for Artilleryman, fearless of harm; B is for Bugler who sounds the alarm. C is for Cavalryman on a fine horse; D is for Drummer, a good one of course."; p. [2] of wrappers with capital letters printed in black and red, and illustrated with a drawing printed in black, red and white; p. [3] of wrappers with "Little Soldiers Multiplication Table" printed in black, red and white, and illustrated with two drawings printed in the same three colors; upper fore edge corners creased, otherwise internally in wonderful condition. The condition of the book is VERY GOOD. Only three copies located on OCLC/WorldCat. SCARCE #000913
