(Alphabet Books) MOTHER GOOSE ABC (CODE NO. 0135). Newark, N.J.; New York: Charles E. Graham & Co., circa 1918. Folio - 12-1/8" x 10-3/8". Staple bound color pictorial printed card wrappers with a large full color drawing by Frank Adams of Simple Simon and the Pyeman on front wrapper; 1-5/8" split to paper at tail of spine, creased lower fore edge corners, both front and back, and a short gift inscription on back wrapper for what is still a real nice copy of the book. [16] pp. including wrappers. There is a lot positive going on in this book, plus it is one of the most beautifully illustrated alphabet books we have ever had in our inventory. Each letter of the alphabet is printed in one of a selection of stunning colors in a very large font, and each letter is paired with a nursery rhyme that has an association with that letter, e.g., "A: was for Archer . . .; B: Little Boy Blue . . .; C: Curly Locks? Curly Locks? . . ."; the real treasures to be found in this book are the absolutely beautiful, full color drawings that illustrate each letter of the alphabet and its paired nursery rhyme; treasures indeed. There are two pages of these letters and full color illustrated nursery rhymes opposite each other which gives a double-page visual marvel; following each of these full color double-page spreads is a double-page spread filled with nursery rhymes, each of which is illustrated with a black, green and white drawing; this pattern repeats until we have finished the alphabet; there are eight pages with the alphabet letters, nursery rhymes and full color illustrations, and six pages with the black, green and white illustrated nursery rhymes. The condition of the book is VERY GOOD. No copies located on OCLC/WorldCat. EXCEEDINGLY RARE; and absolutely wonderful. # 000839
