Outcault, R. F. (Richard Felton). BUSTER BROWN'S PRANKS. New York: Frederick A. Stokes Company, (1905). FIRST EDITION. Oblong elephant folio - 11-7/16" x 16-7/16". Green cloth backed thick card covers with titles printed in black and orange, and a color drawing featuring Buster Brown and his dog Tige to front cover, with minimal wear at the corners and one tiny touch of wear to lower edge of front wrapper for what is a stunningly beautiful copy of the book. [66] pp. including wrappers. Printed in full color on rectos only, the book features R. F. Outcault's "Buster Brown" Sunday pages that had previously appeared in the New York Herald newspaper; the top half of a Sunday page is printed on one page, and the bottom half of that same Sunday page is printed on the page that follows; this pattern continues throughout the book; title page illustrated with a black and white "Buster Brown" comic strip; pages remain bright and clean, are off-white in color, with minor wear to lower fore edge corners, but still very fine (VF) overall. The condition of the book is FINE. (Overstreet 8.5 Very Fine +). RARE; especially so in such nice condition; about as nice of an example of a Platinum Age comic book that can be found. # 000978
