(Early English) HODGE'S VISIT TO THE GYMNASIUM. DEDICATED TO GROWN-UP BABIES OF BOTH SEXES. By the Author of Paul Pry at a Party. London: E. Wallis, 42, Skinner Street, Snow Hill, circa 1823 [paper watermarked 1823]. 12mo - 7-1/16" x 4-1/4". String bound tan stiff paper wrappers with titles and decorative border printed in black to front wrapper, and publisher's advertisement and decorative border printed in black to back wrapper with rubbing and wear along spine and light scattered soiling for what is a lovely copy of the book. Gift inscription on front paste-down. [12] leaves printed one side only. The book contains humorous letterpress verses describing gymnastic exercises witnessed but not understood by a simple county dweller on his recent trip to the big city of London; illustrated with eleven excellent half page hand colored wood engravings, all of which are in fine condition. The condition of the book is VERY GOOD +. Only one copy located on OCLC/WorldCat (Princeton University Library). EXCEEDINGLY RARE # 000852
