Lenski, Lois. Alphabet People. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1928. STATED FIRST EDITION. 8vo - 9-5/16" x 7". Blue cloth covered boards with pictorial pink paper paste-label printed in blue to front cover and a second one to spine, with light rubbing to spine ends and board corners, bumps to board corners and upper edges for what is still a nice copy of the book. Pictorial endpapers printed in pink, with capital letters printed in blue and pink with minor offsetting to edges of free endpapers and a small discrete ink stamp to RFEP. 104 pp. This is a very early Lois Lenski title, the fourth published in a career that would eventually see over ninety titles published. This is an alphabet book based on occupations that a child would be familiar with; each letter of the alphabet is printed in both capital and lower cases and is matched with an occupation that starts with that letter, e.g., A: Artist, B: Butcher, C: Cook, D: Doctor, etc.; along with this is a verse about the occupation and an illustration printed in black, blue, red, white and yellow illustrating the occupation in action; internally quite clean and fresh. The condition of the book is VERY GOOD. A nice copy of a seldom encountered early Lenski title. # 001186
