(Spirit Writing) Colburn, Arthur R. MESSAGES FROM THE SPIRIT PLANES; NO. 1. Takoma Park, [Washington] D. C.: Arthur R. Colburn, (1910). FIRST EDITION. 8vo - 9-1/2" x 6". Staple bound as issued, thick purple paper yapped wrappers with titles printed in white to front wrapper with uneven fading to same, minor wear to the edges, and slight tears around staples for what is a nice copy of this fragile book. [2], 25 pp., plus [1] leaf of photographic plates as frontispiece. Arthur R. Colburn, this book's author and publisher, claims this collection of writings were received "through a talented psychic [none other than himself, no less!] from gifted ones of the spirit world, in their individual styles, and upon their own chosen subject; in some cases coming from planes so advanced that they have not before been heard from." The entities whose writing appears in this volume are: Norse Discoverer (Ancient) (On the Polar Controversy); Sosoparaza (Ancient Hindoo) (Of the Band who inspired Shakespeare); John Bunyan (Author of Pilgrim's Progress); Daniel Webster; and Heart of Oak (Winnebago); frontispiece foxed, otherwise internally fine. The condition of the book is VERY GOOD. Only one copy located on OCLC/WorldCat (University of Maryland Libraries). EXCEEDINGLY RARE #001037
