(Texas Interest) THE ALAMO, SONG OF THE TEXAN RANGER; written & composed for the piano forte by John H. Hewitt. Baltimore: Frederick D. Benteen, (1846). FIRST EDITION. Folio - 12-1/2" x 9-1/4". [1-2], 3-5 pp. on three individual sheets of paper as issued. The words and music to a bloodthirsty call to action, composed in the opening months of the Mexican War, using the memory of the Alamo to spur the troops to action. "Let the knife do its duty it has slept long enough, Its point will get blunt, its steely cheek rough; It thirsts for the blood of the Mexican herd Th' Alamo! th' Alamo! th' Alamo! remember the word!" & c. & c.; three verses total; light folds, light offsetting, light spotting to final leaf and minimal wear for what is a lovely copy of the musical score. The condition of the musical score is VERY GOOD +. Only two copies located on OCLC/WorldCat (The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary: James P.
