(Peepshow Dioramas) A CAMP IN THE AFRICAN JUNGLE; illustrated by Lee Morss. [U.S.A.]: Philip M. Plant Expedition for the American Museum of Natural History, (1939). 7-11/16" x 5-1/2"; length approximately 26". Color pictorial lithographed paper over board front cover with an illustration of an African camp and titles printed in black, signed "Lee Morss" lower right, with a single die-cut spyhole for viewing the diorama contained within; plain board back cover; minor wear to the board edges and fading to the front cover for what is a very nice copy of the peepshow. Five color lithographed panels, four die-cut, plus one printed on the inside of back cover forming the rear of the scene, all evenly spaced and attached to a length of concertina-style folded paper on both top and bottom presenting a wonderful diorama of the flora and fauna one would see looking out across the African landscape from the relative comfort of one's camp chair; concertina-style folded paper joint at lower edge of front cover a bit tender. See "Paper Peepshows: The Jacqueline & Jonathan Gestetner Collection," no. 331. The condition of the peepshow is VERY GOOD. No copies located on OCLC/WorldCat. EXCEEDINGLY RARE #001046
