(African-American Interest) ANTIQUE STEREOGRAPH OR STEREOVIEW SHOWING A GROUP OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN CHILDREN ARRAYED IN FRONT OF A LOG CABIN. [Place of publication not identified]: [Publisher not identified], circa 1870. 6-7/8" x 4-1/4". Two albumen photographic prints mounted on a stereo card; photos labeled "LOG CABIN" in the negative; mount labeled "America Illustrated. Tropical Series." The composition of the photograph is really quite stunning, with four small children, each one sitting on an ever higher rung of a ladder which is propped up against the titular log cabin, with four additional people—including a toddler—standing on the ground; minor edge wear and light scattered spotting to the photographic image; decorative mount is without issue. The condition of the stereoview is VERY GOOD +. Note: The date of the card was estimated by using the date of a card in the same series that is held by the Library of Congress. RARE # 000965
