Taupe cloth backed thick raw board covers with etched title stamped in black to upper right corner of front board with minor fraying to the head and tail of spine and rubbing to the corners for what is a very nice copy of the book. Cancelled copper etched plate 10 ("A Civil War Action") set inside front cover and cancelled copper etched plate 11 ("Text 3") set inside back cover. Plain gray endpapers. [2] blank leaves, [24] etched leaves, [2] blank leaves: illustrations (plates), portrait.
This book was etched, printed and bound by Bernhardt Wall personally. It contains the complete text of the Gettysburg Speech on 8 etched leaves and is illustrated with 8 etched plates, two of which are signed in pencil by Wall. Additional etchings include a limitation statement and a portrait of Lincoln, both of which are also signed by Wall. This "cancelled plate" issue is EXTRA ILLUSTRATED by the addition of two additional plates being strikes of the two cancelled copper plates printed after the plates were cancelled; internally the condition of the book is fine. The condition of the book is VERY GOOD +. Only one copy of the "cancelled plate" issue located on OCLC/WorldCat (University of Miami).
