(Merrill Publishing Co.) BARN-YARD BABIES IN THE ALPHABET (CODE NO. M3481). Chicago: The Merrill Publishing Co., (1934). Oblong 16mo - 5-13/16" x 6-5/16". Orange paper covered boards with titles printed in black and white and a large reproduction of a photograph of a young girl and a lamb, printed in black and white, to both front and back covers, with only minute incidental touches of rubbing to head and tail of spine for what is an amazing, fresh as just printed, as new copy of the book. 58 pp. This was the second title published by the Merrill Publishing Co. It is an alphabet book for the youngest of children with a short verse or phrase for each letter of the alphabet, e.g., "A is for Amy Sitting all alone, watching the Kittens wash their little Mittens."; "B is for Bunny, Cuddly and soft, but VERY timid."; "C is for Calf, Amy has to hold him or he will BOLT."; etc. Each letter/verse pair is illustrated with a reproduction of a photograph by Ruth Townsend, printed in black and white, of a young child with an animal referenced in that letter's verse; internally the book is in as new condition, having evidently never been handled; purchased from the owner of the Merrill Publishing Co.'s archives. The condition of the book is FINE. Only three copies located on OCLC/WorldCat. RARE; especially in such nice condition. #001019
