(Black Panther Party) Gun-Barrel Politics: The Black Panther Party, 1967-1971. Report By the Committee on Internal Security, House of Representatives, Ninety-Second Congress, First Session. Washington, D.C.: U.S. Government Printing Office, 1971. FIRST EDITION. 8vo - 9-1/8" x 5-7/8". Original staple-bound paper self-wrappers with titles and publication information printed in black to front wrapper, with a previous owner's neat ink stamp to lower margin of front wrapper and corner creases to the back wrapper for what is a lovely copy of this report. xi, 145, vii pp. including index. This report was issued by the Committee on Internal Security, which was formerly known as the House Committee on Un-American Activities and was created in 1938 to investigate alleged disloyalty and subversive activities on the part of private citizens, public employees and organizations suspected of having Communist ties. Having been newly re-branded in 1969, the Committee turned its attention to the Black Panther Party. The investigation of the Black Panthers was conducted with considerably more zeal than the Communist witch-hunts of the 1950s. The F.B.I. and local California police in general waged a deadly war against the Panthers, all of which is documented in this report; illustrated throughout with the reproduction of photographs and facsimilies; internally in fine condition. The condition of the report is NEAR FINE. Only five copies located on OCLC/WorldCat. RARE; especially so in such nice condition. # 001235
