Original yapp-edged green Japanese hand-made paper wrappers, hand-sewn by Gerhard Gerlach as issued, with titles printed to front wrapper with minor wear to head and tail of spine, minor spotting/staining to front wrapper and moderate staining to back wrapper for what is still a nice copy of this highly sought out George Nakashima furniture catalog. Endpapers made by hand in Japan. [28] pp., plus [4] leaves of price list and [2] pp. overview/care instructions laid in. A wonderful, photo-illustrated catalog showing the available furniture designs by the master furniture maker, George Nakashima of New Hope, Pennsylvania. Included in the catalog are a [2] pp. letterpress introduction by Mr. Nakashima, and a tissue-guarded photographic frontispiece of an interior view of Conoid Studio; categories of illustrated works include: dining tables, coffee and end tables, desks, chairs, rockers, benches, cushion pieces, stools, long chair, day beds, chests, wall cases, wall pieces, bed and headboard, bedside pieces, headboards, lamp and miscellaneous; laid-in price list dated September 1966 shows prices ranging from $22.00 for an 18" x 16" x 12-1/2" high Grass-Seated Stool to $460.00 for a 72" x 40" width, with 26" leaf Turned-Leg Single Drop-Leaf Table; truly a fascinating look into one of the leading innovators of 20th century furniture design and one of the fathers of the American Craft Movement's philosophy, designs and prices from the mid-1960s; internally near fine with two small spots of discoloration on two facing pages being the only real flaws.
