Drawn on art board measuring 10-1/8" x 13-5/16"; the drawing has been matted in such a way that part of the drawing is covered, with the result being an exposed image measuring 9-5/8" x 12-3/8". This drawing was published on page 429 of the December 14, 1904 issue of the periodical "Punch, or the London Charivari". The drawing appears as a full page illustration titled "L'Art Nouveau". Its caption reads "Damp but undaunted Correspondent of a Sporting Paper (to elderly party, who has also been 'put down'). 'Could you keep still one moment, Sir, while I make my sketch?'"; signed lower left "Cecil Aldin 04". The art board is age toned with light scattered foxing. The drawing is sold with a hardcover copy of Vol. CXXVII of Punch, or the London Charivari, comprising issues from July1-Dec. 31, 1904, within whose pages this drawing was originally published.
