Swan motif endpapers with gift inscription dated Christmas 1901 on FFEP recto; FFEP verso with publisher's advertisement for six titles by the same Authors. 66 pp. The book, written in verse by Bertha Upton, follows Golliwogg and his five Dutch doll friends as they head out on adventures in Golliwogg's new battery powered "auto-go-cart;" adventures quickly turn into misadventures for Golliwogg and his pals; illustrated by Florence K. Upton, Bertha's daughter, with thirty-one wonderful full page chromolithographs including one double-page drawing of Golliwogg and the dolls all tied up and marching to prison with three policemen on rocking horses following close behind, plus numerous sepia drawings within text; one page with a short closed tear measuring 5/8" long at lower gutter, otherwise, internally the book is fine.
