(L. Prang & Co.) publishers. THE WAR BOUQUET. WHAT DOES IT EXHIBIT? [Prang Magic Card]. [Boston]: L. Prang & Co., (1865). 4-5/16" x 2-7/16". Civil War era stiff paper parlor game card, front side printed in black, back side blank; with a great Civil War themed image for what is a wonderful example of one of these Magic Cards. From the "Key to the Magic Cards" which would have been included with the full set of twelve cards when they were originally purchased, but not included here, "[t]he Magic Cards have been devised for the entertainment of both young and old; every one involves an artistic problem, the solution of which is the main object. This Key should only be used to verify the solution arrived at, otherwise the principal part of the interest in these pictures will be annihilated." Spoiler Alert: the key to this card will now be revealed. "You can scarcely fail to discover the meaning on close observation. If you do not, then place the picture at a distance of about ten feet and the profile portraits of Lincoln, Grant, Sherman and Sheridan will become apparent. It is a bouquet worth having you will admit." The condition of the card is FINE. SCARCE # 000812
